Angelim Vermelho heartwood is yellowish-brown in color, usually with stripes and often with an orange-like tint, darkening to reddish-brown. The sapwood is pinkish and not always sharply delineated from the heartwood. When using this wood species, it must be taken into account that it releases color upon contact with water; therefore, it is not suitable for, for example, an outdoor wooden bench. This wood species can be used in applications similar to Azobé, primarily civil engineering applications. However, always bear in mind that it has a specific butyric acid odor, both fresh and dry.
